​​​Hi there,

​

I'm Bec (she/her), and I’m so glad we’ve connected. 

​

I’m an accredited social worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Over the years I’ve worked as a therapist, clinician, and counsellor across both public and not-for-profit settings. I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of people—those navigating everyday challenges, living with mental health concerns, or working through complex systems like the NDIS or workplace environments.

 

As a clinical social worker, I balance the importance of a person-centred perspective, with the understanding of navigating complex systems, in working alongside the person. This means that I am trained in multiple trauma-informed and neuroaffirming approaches such as DBT, IFS and SFBT, and frame this with social work values of critically reflecting on power and systems. My practice leans more towards a psychosomatic understanding of self - working with the felt sense in our bodies, as well as the narratives/thinking that can surround it (e.g. whether there may be a protective or defensive element).

On a person level, with life's ebbs and flows, I have, at times, found life overwhelming and difficult to navigate. My experience, both professional and personal has shown me the importance of grounding practices and support. I’m now passionate about working with others to find their own sense of balance. My approaches centre on normalising your experience, as well as working with you, to develop practical tools, that make sense for you. Working online together also means we can work flexibly in a time that works for you, and in a place where you feel safe.

In balancing my passion in working with people, I value time in nature (i.e. hiking or swimming), having meaningful conversations with family and friends, and spending time with myself (i.e. yoga, meditation, gardening and listening to music).

I believe that life naturally has ebbs and flows. And that, finding balance is possible - but that balance looks different for everyone. It’s about learning to understand what works for you and your needs.
